Fines for Overdue Library Materials

The Santa Fe Springs City Library is now fine-free.  We believe that eliminating overdue fines creates a more welcoming library, which is part of our mission to improve the quality of community life in the City of Santa Fe Springs.  Hundreds of library systems in California are now fine-free, including our neighbors at the Los Angeles County Public Library and the Orange County Public Libraries.

The Santa Fe Springs City Library will notify you when your items are overdue; you may also renew your items two (2) times, unless someone else has requested them.  After the items have been overdue for 6 weeks, the items will be considered lost. 

Lost or Damaged Items

If you have lost or damaged an item, you will be responsible for paying a replacement fee along with a processing fee. If the cost of the lost item plus processing fee exceeds $8, you will not be able to use your card to check out items or use the Library public computers.  

The Library accepts cash, check and credit or debit card payments.  Payment with credit or debit cards is available through our self-checkout machines and online.  

Special Fees

Entertainment DVDs: $1 each title to check out.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL): $5 per title, plus any special postage or fee added by the lending library.

Library Card Replacement

If your library card is lost or stolen, please notify the Santa Fe Springs City Library immediately by phone or by e-mail.  A photo identification is needed to receive a replacement card.

Replacement for the first 3 cards: $1 each
Replacement for each successive card: $5 each
